THE STORY
It started with one question:
“How can you serve the world in a bigger way?”
Nine months before I left, I was sitting at TEDNext in Atlanta when that question stopped me in my tracks.
I put my head down and started writing.
What came out was a pledge to travel across all 50 states, speak, create Courage Circles, ask people about their dreams, share their stories on YouTube, and help 1 million people find their voice and use it.
THE IDEA SCARED ME
All 50 states? Speaking? Really?
But I’ve learned to pay attention to the things that both scare and excite me - because they’re usually pointing me toward something worth pursuing.
So I said YES.
On June 24, 2026, I packed up the car with my 19-year-old daughter, Breezy, and 17-year-old son, Jake, and we pulled out of Marietta, Georgia to begin the first leg of the 50-State MOVE FORWARD MESSY Courage Tour.
We had no idea exactly what the next 34 days would bring.
For 34 days, we traveled across the country on the first leg of the 50-State MOVE FORWARD MESSY Courage Tour.
And WOW, did we have an adventure.

Everywhere I went, I asked people one question:
“If you had all the confidence, time, energy and money in the world, what would you be doing?”
I asked people at restaurants
Gas stations
Hotels
Coffee shops
Events
Retail shops
Anywhere I could find the courage to start a conversation.
And 145 people shared their dreams with me.
I watched complete strangers light up the moment they gave themselves permission to say their dream out loud.
Some dreams were huge.
Some were quiet.
Some had been tucked away for years.
But each conversation reminded me of something important:
Speaking the dream is the very first tiny brave step we can take toward making it real.

WHAT THE ROAD TAUGHT ME
Courage is contagious.
Every time I practiced the courage to approach a stranger and ask about their dream, I gave them an opportunity to practice courage by answering.
And then their courage gave me more courage to ask the next person.
That’s how confidence is built.
Not by waiting until we feel ready.
By moving.
Trying.
Speaking.
Connecting.
Taking one tiny brave step, and then another.
